QUICK BITS

FRIDAY NIGHT FACE-OFF:

Despite a hot start Friday night in Jacksonville, the Swamp Rabbits fell to the Icemen 6-4. Greenville struck first scoring two goals just :10 apart and 9:08 and 9:17 of the first period. Max Zimmer scored on a one time goal, followed by Dallas Gerads who stuffed a puck in from the doorstep. Icemen forward Abbott Girduckis scored his first of two at 13:15 in the first making it 2-1 for a short period of time. The scoring was not done as Nikita Pavlychev scored the third of the night for Greenville off of his own rebound at the 13:46 mark. Jake Elmer would make it a one goal game before the end of the period on an Icemen power play. The second period saw great performances from both goaltenders, and despite a load of action no goals would be scored. The Icemen scored three in a row to start the third period thanks to Derek Lodermeier, Girduckis and Ara Nazarian. Diego Cuglietta gave the Bits hope with 2:35 left to play as he netted a goal making it 5-4. Craig Martin shut the door on Greenville with an empty net goal at 18:30.

SCOUTING THE GLADS:

The Swamp Rabbits travel to Atlanta on Saturday to take on the 9-8-2 Gladiators. The Gladiators defeated the Orlando Solar Bears 4-0 Friday night. Michael Turner, Luke Nogard, Tyler Kobryn, and Kameron Kielly scored goals in Friday’s contest. Atlanta is averaging 2.63 goals per game, Hugo Roy leads the charge with 11 goals in 13 games this year. Roy had a five game goal streak and seven goals in as many games, a streak that was snapped in last nights game. Tyler Parks has seen the most action in goal for Atlanta. Parks has a .935 save percentage, allowing an average of 1.89 goals per game. Atlanta is 2-3 in their last five games, and have split goals 50-50 with opponents this season.

PICTURE PERFECT PECS:

Liam Pecararo added two assists to the score sheet on Friday night. Opponents have not been able to slow Pecararo down as he extends his point streak to six games. Following three games in a row in which he scored goals, Pecararo assisted Zimmer and Pavlychev in the first period of Friday’s contest bringing his season total to nine, accompanied by seven goals. In his six game point streak, Pecararo has five goals and seven assists.

MAX EFFICIENCY:

Swamp Rabbits forward Max Zimmer recorded a goal and an assist in Jacksonville on Friday night. His two points make it a four game point streak, in which he has seven points. Zimmer has goals in back to back games (two on 12/8, one on 12/10). This streak has seen four goals and three assists; Zimmer has eight goals and seven assists on the year.

CAN’T STOP CUGS:

Diego Cuglietta is on a tear and has not slowed down since joining the Greenville squad last month. Friday night in Jacksonville, Cuglietta added a goal  to his already impressive showing for the Swamp Rabbits this season. His goal Friday night made it seven goals and eight assists in his 11 games in Greenville. Cuglietta has eight points in the last five games, after his six game point streak was snapped against the Stingrays Sunday afternoon.  A goal and an assist on Friday night make it three points in his last two games as Cuglietta looks to get started with another streak.

WHAT ON TAP:

The Swamp Rabbits travel back to Greenville for a Sunday afternoon game with the Atlanta Gladiators before traveling back to Jacksonville on Wednesday to take on the Icemen yet again.
