QUICK BITS
SPACE JAM SLAM:
Space Jam Night was a hit at the Well. The Swamp Rabbits held off the visiting South Carolina Stingrays 2-0 on Friday Night. Greenville struck in the first period, Max Zimmer netting a beautiful shot right after an offensive zone face-off at 12:32. There were five penalties in the first period, three of which were committed by the Stingrays. The Second period would see newcomer Nikita Pavlychev bury his first swamp Rabbits Goal on an immaculate one timer fed by Liam Pecararo to the backside of the net, scoring at the 4:57 mark. An overall scrappy game saw 3 separate offsetting penalties leading to 2 4v4 opportunities and one that turned into a Swamp Rabbits’ power play 4v3. Despite great shooting from the South Carolina offense, goaltender Jacob Ingham was able to stop all 27 shots, securing the shutout win on home ice.
SCOUTING ATLANTA:
The Swamp Rabbits will host the Atlanta Gladiators for the first time this season on Sunday afternoon in Greenville. The clubs last met just under one week ago in Duluth, where the Swamp Rabbits emerged with a 5-2 victory. Atlanta’s scoring is led by Cody Sylvester who has six goals and three assists. Sylvester had a 6-game goal streak that started on 11/5 against Jacksonville, ending last night against Cincinnati. While he failed to score a goal, Sylvester assisted the second Atlanta goal of the night, turning his goal streak to a 7-game point streak. It’s a tale of two tendies in Atlanta, Tyler Parks has been great this season with a 5-2 record, 1.95GAA and .921sv%. Chris Nell however, has struggled in net for the Glads, and has a 1-1 record in three games, 5.58GAA and .822sv%.
MITS LIKE MAX:
Max Zimmer has been on fire in his last five games. In that stretch, Zimmer has seven points on three goals and four assists. With a first period goal Friday night, Zimmer extended his point streak to three games. While streaking, Zimmer has three goals and two assists, scoring twice against Florida on 11/13 and once 11/19 against South Carolina. The outlier game being 11/12 vs. Florida where he struggled to get any shots off.
ICY INGHAM:
Swamp Rabbits goalie Jacob Ingham was a brick wall on Friday night at the Well, stopping 27 shots from the Stingrays and securing a shutout win in front of a home crowd. Ingham has seen the most action in net this year for Greenville, starting five games, holding a 3-2 record. He has stopped 150/164 shots he has faced this season (.915sv%) and has a 2.81 goals against average.
