ABOUT LAST NIGHT:

The Swamp Rabbits looked to avenge their home-opening defeat to the Jacksonville Icemen in a Thursday night meeting. Inside of the first two minutes, Greenville took the lead with Anthony Rinaldi’s first of the season before it was answered by Craig Martin for the Icemen. Later in the first, Lincoln Griffin scored the eventual game-winning goal. In the second, Tommy Besinger scored his first as a Swamp Rabbit to secure the 3-1 win. 

FLASHY FITZY:

Goaltender Evan Fitzpatrick dazzled for the Swamp Rabbits in last night 3-1 victory. The former second round draft choice stopped 20 of 21 to earn his first win of the season. The netminder now holds a 1-2 record with a team best 1.34 goal against average and a .949 save percentage. 

FREEMAN’S FEELIN’ IT:

Forward Ben Freeman has scored three assists in four games with a helper last night during the win over Jacksonville. Recording a point tonight, would set Freeman on a 3-game point streak just seven games into this young season. 

HELPING HORA:

Frank Hora has been a welcomed returner since rejoining the Swamp Rabbits from his stint in the AHL with the Charlotte Checkers. The blue-liner has recored back-to-back games with an assist in his three games since returning. 

KILLIN’ IT ON THE KILL:

Greenville’s penalty kill unit has defended home ice with force, posting a 90.9% inside Bon Secours Wellness Arena. The special teams unit has conceded just once one 11 shorthanded situations on home ice. 

HELLO THERE:

Friday night’s meet with the Everblades marks the first time that the two sides will meet during the 2021-22 regular season. The two teams will meet 10 times throughout the season with 7 of those meetings being at Bon Secours Wellness Arena. After this weekend’s games, the Swamp Rabbits and the Everblades will meet again on January 14 and 15.

The Everblades enter tonight’s game in 2nd in the South Division standings with 9 points through 8 games. Averaging 3 goals per game offensively, Florida’s offense has been lethal so far this season and is led by Forward Blake Winiecki with 6 goals and three assists.
