(GREENVILLE, S.C.) – The Greenville Swamp Rabbits, proud ECHL affiliate of the NHL’s Los Angeles Kings and AHL’s Ontario Reign, announced today via a Swamp Rabbit Moving Transaction that rookie defenseman Michael Mastrodomenico has earned his first career call-up to the AHL’s Ontario Reign.
Mastrodomenico heads up to the AHL after playing in both games to start the season last week. The 6’1”, 210-pound blue liner logged an assist in a 5-1 thrashing of the Atlanta Gladiators on Opening Night, presented by Bon Secours St. Francis Health System. He has that assist and a +1 rating through two games.
Mastrodomenico elevated himself to the pro ranks with the Swamp Rabbits last season, making his debut on April 9th while notching his first career assist against the Bloomington Bison. He later scored his first professional goal on the last game of the regular season against Atlanta on April 19th and finished the campaign with a goal and three points in six contests. Before signing with the Swamp Rabbits, Mastrodomenico signed an AHL contract with the Reign that would begin for the 2026-27 hockey season.
From Kirkland, QC, Mastrodomenico, 22, turned professional after he completed his senior season with the NCAA’s Notre Dame, serving as captain while earning 13 points (5g-8ast) in 35 contests. In total, he played 120 games over four seasons with the Fighting Irish, earning 10 goals, 26 assists, and 36 points. Before going to college, he played two seasons in the USHL with the Lincoln Stars and represented Canada at the 2022 U18 World Junior Championships.
