(GREENVILLE, S.C.) – The Greenville Swamp Rabbits, proud ECHL affiliate of the NHL’s Los Angeles Kings and AHL’s Ontario Reign, announced today via a Swamp Rabbit Moving Transaction that the team has signed Ryan McAllister ahead of Training Camp 2026.
McAllister joins the Swamp Rabbits following his third professional season. The 5’10”, 185-pound forward originally began the 2025-26 campaign on contract with the NHL’s Florida Panthers, earning seven points in 15 games with their AHL affiliate, the Charlotte Checkers, and an assist in an additional pair of games with their ECHL affiliate, the Savannah Ghost Pirates. McAllister was then signed to an AHL contract for the remainder of the campaign with the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins, logging another appearance with them before an assignment to the Wheeling Nailers. In West Virginia, he torched the competition with over a point-per-game, logging 10 goals and 25 points in 24 contests, and added an additional 13 points in 17 playoff games, helping the Nailers to the 2026 Eastern Conference Final.
From London, Ontario, McAllister, 24, boasts 73 games of AHL experience with the Checkers and Penguins, totaling 18 goals and 46 points, and an additional 26 games in the ECHL with the Ghost Pirates and Nailers, accruing 10 goals and 26 points. Before turning professional, McAllister played one NCAA college season with Western Michigan University, garnering 2023 NCHC All-Rookie Team and Honorable Mention Team recognition, and played three seasons of junior hockey with the BCHL’s Prince George Spruce Kings and the AJHL’s Brooks Bandits. In the 2021-22 campaign with Brooks, he led the Bandits to a championship while outpacing all skaters with 57 goals, 82 assists, and 139 points in 60 games, claiming AJHL Regular Season and Playoff MVP honors, in addition to the same recognition in the entire CJHL.
The Swamp Rabbits officially begin the 25th season of professional hockey in the Upstate on “Opening Night”, presented by Bon Secours St. Francis Health System on Friday, October 16th. Puck drop is set for 7:05pm at Bon Secours Wellness Arena, with a pre-game part on the Furman Plaza set to kick off the festivities with an “orange carpet” entrance of the 2026-27 Greenville Swamp Rabbits.
